PA6 (Polyamide 6)
PA6 possesses relatively high mechanical strength and good toughness, together with excellent wear resistance and self‑lubricity. Its melting point ranges from 215‑220 °C. It features a wide processing‑temperature window and is easy to mold. Compared with PA66, PA6 delivers superior impact resistance and solvent resistance, yet it exhibits higher water absorption. This property leads to dimensional variation and fluctuation of partial mechanical properties of finished parts along with ambient‑humidity changes.
Main Applications
Fiber products: the largest consumption field, accounting for about 70% of total consumption. It is widely used for textiles such as undergarments, silk stockings and sportswear; industrial yarn including tire cord fabrics and air‑bag fabrics; as well as carpet yarns.
Engineering‑plastic applications: with favorable mechanical performance, PA6 is manufactured into various industrial components, such as wear‑resistant transmission parts including bearings, gears and pulleys. In the automotive industry, it is applied for engine hood covers, intake manifolds, fuel hoses and other parts to realize lightweight by metal replacement.
Films & packaging: PA6 is used for producing biaxially oriented polyamide film (BOPA). With excellent barrier property and puncture resistance, such films are mainly adopted as packaging materials for food and medical supplies.
